Nagorno-Karabakh is a mountainous and landlocked region in the South Caucasus, recognized as part of Azerbaijan under international law. For a long time, it has remained at the center of a longstanding dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan. However, it is recognized internationally as part of Azerbaijan despite the conflict. After a military offensive by Azerbaijan in September 2023, it fully captured Nagorno-Karabakh, and on January 1, 2024, the self-declared state of Artsakh was dissolved.
