The Ministry of Defence of Pakistan was established on August 14, 1947. Liaquat Ali Khan was appointed as the first prime minister of the country and was given the charge of Defence Minister as well. He served as the first Defence Minister of the country from the beginning of Pakistan on August 15, 1947, till his assassination on October 16, 1951. During that period, he was given the charge of Foreign Affairs and Frontier Regions as well.
