Antonio Guterres was the Prime Minister of Portugal between 1995 and 2002, who was the president of the country during a time of massive economic expansion and the adoption of the Euro. Being a member of the Socialist Party, his rule was characterized by the social justice and modernization, the crisis in East Timor, which he successfully solved, promoted his international image. After spending time in the domestic politics, he switched to international leadership where he worked as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and then became the UN Secretary-General in 2017.
