Dr. Ruth Pfau (1929–2017) was a German-Pakistani doctor, Catholic nun, and led a relentless fight against leprosy in Pakistan for over half a century. She founded the Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre, set up 157 clinics, tended to over 56,000 patients, and helped bring the disease under control by 1996.
