Homer is hailed as the giant and the prime mover of ancient Greek poetry. He is known to be the author of the Iliad and the Odyssey, the two main supports of ancient Greek literature. These epics were constructed in a very old-fashioned manner known as Homeric or Epic Greek, which was a combination of Ionic and Aeolic dialects. His works were so integral to Greek culture that he was commonly referred to as the “Teacher of Greece.”
