The One-Unit plan, which combined West Pakistan’s four provinces into one province, was officially formed and implemented in 1955. While the idea was first proposed by Prime Minister Muhammad Ali Bogra on November 22, 1954, legislative approval and executive orders were required to make the idea a reality.
Legislative Approval: The West Pakistan (One Unit) Bill was passed by the Constituent Assembly on September 30, 1955.
Executive Order: Acting Governor-General Iskander Mirza passed the official order for unification on October 5, 1955.
Implementation: The single province of West Pakistan officially came into existence on October 14, 1955.
