The Government of Pakistan through The National Assembly passed a resolution confirming that the right of the Qadiani/Ahmadi Community to call themselves Muslims and to refer to their faith as Islam is hereby denied on 7th September 1974. At that time the Chairman of the National Assembly was Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. This declaration was made through the Second Amendment to the Constitution which defined a Muslim as a person who believes in the absolute finality of the Prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH).
