A CPU (Central Processing Unit) can be known as the brain of the computer since it directs and organizes all the activities of the parts of the computer. It does the interpretation, execution of instructions issued by programs, and supervises the movement of data between memory and storage as well as the peripheral devices.
The main functional component that controls the major operation of a computer is CPU. Although it is comprised of specialized sub-units, the CPU itself is the component which connects all the other hardware and software making them interact with one another in harmony.
