The blasts took place on February 18, 2007, around midnight, at two coaches of the train at the Diwana railway station in Panipat, Haryana. A total of 68-70 people lost their lives in the blast, most of whom were Pakistani nationals. This attack occurred just a day prior to the scheduled arrival of the Pakistani Foreign Minister at New Delhi for peace talks.
