Brigadier Siddique Salik (1935–1988) was an officer in the Pakistan Army who served as the Public Relations Officer to the Commander of the Eastern Command in Dhaka during the 1971 war. He witnessed firsthand the events that led to the surrender of Pakistani forces and the birth of Bangladesh, and he was taken as a prisoner of war in India. His book, first published in 1977, is regarded as an important eyewitness account of the 1971 conflict.
