Who left the politics after the cancellation of the Partition of Bengal?

  • (A) Nawab Salimullah Khan
  • (B) Sir Khizar Ahad Khan
  • (C) Maulana Zafar Ali Khan
  • (D) Nawab Viqar-ul-Mulk
Nawab Salimullah Khan, also referred to as Khwaja Salimullah, retreated from politics after the decision to annul the Partition of Bengal in 1911. He was at the heart of it and had been at the forefront of the partition and was a key representative of the Muslim population of East Bengal. On December 12, 1911, it was announced that the Partition of Bengal would be annulled. This was a blow to him and his confidence in the British government. Although he did not disappear into obscurity and continued with his work in terms of education and was involved in establishing Dhaka University, it is evident that during the Balkan Wars of 1912, he did somewhat try to address Muslim issues. Nevertheless, it is evident that Nawab Salimullah retreated from politics after the events of 1911.
