The first secretary to the Board of Trustees at the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College in Aligarh was Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. He was the founder of the institution in 1875 and held the position of first secretary to the Board of Trustees until he died in 1898. After his death, Nawab Mohsin-ul-Mulk took over as the second secretary to the Board of Trustees. Later, in 1907, Nawab Viqar-ul-Mulk took over this position.
