Qussai bin Kilab, was the first important figure among the Quraysh tribe to be entrusted with the keys of the Ka'aba. After him, the responsibility for the keys and the management of the Ka'aba was passed down to his descendants. The custodianship traditionally remained with the Bani Shaiba (descendants of Abdul Dar, son of Qussai). The keys were not held by Abdul Muttalib, Abdullah, or the Banu Hashim clan as the primary, official keyholders, but rather by the descendants of Qussai, known as the Bani Shaybah or Banu Abdul Dar.
